PREVENTION & RESPONSE

ABOUT SARC AND ITS MISSION

The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is a 501c(3) non-profit with the mission of providing advocacy, education, counseling, and crisis intervention services to all of those affected by sexual violence in the Brazos Valley. SARC services are completely free and confidential and are available to women and men ages 13 and older regardless of gender, sex, race, ability, age, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation. We are an open and affirming organization and hope to provide a safe zone for all survivors.

SARC services Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington counties in central Texas. SARC services include:

  • 24-hour crisis hotline

  • 24-hour accompaniment by a state certified victim’s advocate to medical facilities

  • Confidential counseling for survivors of sexual assault and their families

  • Community Education and Outreach

  • Accompaniment to court or law enforcement

SARC is equally committed to responding to the effects of sexual violence in our community and working to prevent it. We believe that compassionate, empathetic, trauma-informed care of survivors and dedication to quality community education programs are vital to changing the statistics. By working to prevent rape and sexual assault and properly responding to the needs of those affected by it, we believe that we can change the stigmas and attitudes that often lead to sexual violence and prevent survivors from asking for help.
