Awards

The awards ceremony will consist of four Outstanding Individuals/Groups nominated by our community-

 

  • First Responder of the Year- This award is given to a first responder in the Brazos Valley area who has demonstrated great dedication, service, and effort in the fight against sexual violence. This award recognizes those individuals/groups who go above and beyond the call of duty to help survivors, family members, advocates, investigators, and others in these crisis situations. The recipient of this award must work for a local law enforcement, EMS, or firefighting agency, and is limited to those individuals who are present when these crimes are first reported. This includes local patrol officers, EMS providers, and firefighters

 

  • Investigator of the Year- This award is given to an investigator or detective in the Brazos Valley area who has shown commitment and dedication in the investigation of sexual offenses. This award recognizes those law enforcement officers who are called on to follow-up and develop the criminal case after a sexual assault is reported. The recipient of this award must be a local peace officer, and must have shown significant dedication and cooperation with survivors, advocates, other law enforcement officers, and prosecutors in the fight against sexual violence.

 

  • Medical Professional of the Year- This award recognizes the significant and often tireless work given by local medical providers to survivors, family members, advocates, and law enforcement officers in sex-related crimes. This award is given to a local medical professional/group who has shown significant passion in the fight against sexual violence. The recipient of this award must be a local medical professional, including, doctors, nurses, hospital administration, researchers, professors, or other medical staff.

 

  • Advocate of the Year- This award recognizes the tireless work our advocates (individuals and groups) and community members give to the fight against sexual violence. This award is given to a local community member, organization/group, counselor, or advocate who has shown significant passion and enthusiasm in helping survivors, family members, law enforcement, and others in the battle to end sexual violence
